Business Mediation
|
Mediation between businesses or between a
business and its customers has been exercised for
hundreds or even thousands of years. It is the
most common type of mediation and has become even
more popular in recent years as the costs of
litigation have skyrocketed.
Mediation is often used to negotiate an agreement
for the purchase or sale of goods between businesses.
The mediator is in a unique position to steer both
parties toward an amicable agreement. It is his
job to help the parties reach a equilibrium in their
negotiations without each partner alienating the
other.
In business mediation it is especially important to
use a mediator expertly qualified in the area of
dispute. There is a broad need for mediators in
many business disciplines including: insurance,
finance, real estate, contracts, organization, and
many others. It is imperative that the mediator
be an expert in the discipline at question but not be
involved in the particular business itself to avoid
any conflict of interest.
