City And County Taxes

City and county taxes can include sales tax, income tax, real property tax, personal property tax and, of course, parking, speeding and other tickets and fines that bring in local revenue.  Local taxes pay for streets and roads, schools, fire, police, parks and other community services.

Cities and counties also tax local businesses with license fees and many of the same taxes that apply to residents.

City and county taxes can also include taxes on tourists and others traveling through the city or county.  Tourists pay hotel taxes, highway tolls, airport fees and other types of service fees.
