A fracture is a work related injury where the
bone has been broken or cracked. They type of
injury requires immediate medical attention to set
the bone and possibly repair any extraordinary
damage to the bone, veins and other tissue.
A fracture will usually result in the area or limb
containing the fractured bone to be set into place and
a plaster cast placed over the area to prevent
movement while the bone heals itself back together.
Fractures usually also experience a large amount of
swelling, especially if it is near a joint such as an
ankle. An employee suffering a work related
injury fracture may or may not be able to perform his
or her normal job while the fracture heals. The
healing process can take several months in most cases.
